excellence in adult education

Laurie Martin is a professional development specialist at the Adult Learning Resource Center. She currently provides training and technical assistance for teachers and adult education program administrators primarily in the areas of ESL, ESL Standards, ESL curriculum, IELCE, evidence-based reading instruction, and digital literacy. She has presented at numerous regional, state, and national conferences.  She is the state lead for BEST Plus training in Illinois.

 

Laurie served on the national team of the STudent Achievement in Reading (STAR) federal initiative and has provided training on STAR and evidence-based reading instruction in Illinois as well as in other states.  

 

She is the co-author of Community Connections: Education for Involved Communities, an EL-Civics curriculum produced under a federal grant. She has developed and conducted online and in-person training on the curriculum and other civics content for EL-Civics teachers to implement the Illinois EL-Civics Competencies.
