Anita Kerr is an Educational Training Specialist for the Southern Illinois Professional Development Center (SIPDC), part of the ICCB Adult Education Professional Development Network. She holds a B.A. in English from Union University and an M.A. in English Literature from SIUE.  

Anita has been working and teaching in the adult education field for over 25 years. She has served as a coordinator and an instructor in the areas of volunteer & workplace literacy, ESL, and ABE/ASE. She is an ABE/ASE Master Teacher and currently teaches online ASE classes for Lincoln Land Community College.  

Anita has designed and facilitated a variety of professional development opportunities for educators in live, virtual, asynchronous, and hybrid formats. She is a certified CASAS trainer, and in 2022 she was part of the PDN team that won the State Innovation Award from CASAS for the development and execution of a statewide Assessment Hub. 

In addition to presenting at numerous regional, state, and national conferences on adult education topics, Anita helped develop several statewide adult education curricula, as well as the Illinois ABE/ASE Content Standards for Language Arts. Her passion is supporting and training adult education practitioners, and her focus areas include Language Arts standards-based instruction, student persistence, and assessment.
