The new Assessment Virtual Learning Community (VLC) is a networking and collaboration opportunity for all Illinois adult education instructors, coordinators, administrators, testing staff, and support staff.

The Assessment VLC provides a space for adult education practitioners to ask questions and learn information about standardized assessments used in Illinois. This could include the CASAS, TABE, BEST, GED, or HiSET test series.

The VLC will offer a combination of live meetings, each with a focused topic and live Q&A, and asynchronous discussion in iLearn. The anticipated topics for the live meetings are:

  • October 11, 2023 1pm-2pm - Moving Away from Paper Testing

  • November 15, 2023 1pm-2pm - Using Remote Testing to Your Advantage

  • February 7, 2024 1pm-2pm - Reports and Results

  • May 8, 2024 1pm-2pm - New Tests for FY25

Participants can enroll in the VLC at any point in the year and participate in any or all of the content.

Participants who attend a live meeting and complete a short reflection assignment will earn 1.5 PD hours, if they wish. If all 4 meetings are attended and all 4 assignments completed,  6 PD hours will be issued for the fiscal year.
