Essential Employability Skills for Today's Workforce: Exploring the Updated Framework
- Friday, November 6th - 11:00 - 11:45 am
Join Aimee Julian and Brittany Boston of the Illinois Center for Specialized Professional Support as they repeat a highly recommended Forum for Excellence presentation. As workforce expectations continue to evolve, so too must the employability skills that support student success. This session introduces the refreshed Essential Employability Skills Framework, an update to the existing framework that incorporates emerging workplace demands, including Digital Readiness and AI Literacy. Participants will explore how the revised framework builds upon foundational employability skills while providing educators and workforce professionals with a contemporary approach to preparing learners for an increasingly technology-driven workplace. Attendees will learn about the framework updates, implementation strategies, and opportunities to integrate essential employability skills across instruction, student services, career development, and employer engagement.
